The Inn

History of Aggie Inn, An Ascend Collection Hotel

Royal Guest Hotels began construction of the Aggie Inn in 1985. The plot of land consisted of a parking lot and an old abandoned storage shed. The hotel opened in 1987 with twenty guest rooms and a manager’s quarters. Over the years the Inn has hosted many distinguished university guests and celebrities.

The Aggie Inn is located along the historic Lincoln Highway, the first road to span across the country, and created, in part, as a tribute to President Abraham Lincoln. The Lincoln Highway was built in Davis in 1923. To this day, Davis residents are adamant about preserving the Highway.

In 1994, the hotel acquired land adjacent to the original hotel in order to expand the grounds. The new land came with old duplexes, originally constructed during World War II, to house the war’s veterans and their families. At the time of acquisition, the duplexes were in dismal shape and had to be stripped down to the stick frame during renovation. The duplexes, which are now known as our popular, “cottages” officially opened in 1995.

At present day, the Aggie Inn consists of 33 guest rooms and a breakfast room. The Inn is still a favorite for travelers to the Davis area due to its prime location and personalized service. In 2016 the Aggie Inn began renovation to update its rooms and cottages.  The renovation goal was to keep the rustic feel of the property, while updating room amenities to suit the modern day traveler’s needs. The renovations were completed in March 2017.
